< Mention of Ju Yeon Lee,

Mentor of Voice of Piece  >

  • Voice of Piece is a student-led project that helps African artists reach more people by sharing their artwork online and selling products featuring their designs. When Grace joined Cohort 3, she suggested something different: instead of only selling products made from existing artwork, why not have artists from different countries create new pieces together?

  • Her idea prompted the student web development team and Grace to build ArtBridge of VOP, a website where artists could connect and work together. Grace also became its first collaborative artist and partnered with Tanzanian painter Ezekiel Charles Loishooki to create One Line, Two Worlds. They combined their individual artwork into a new design that reflected both of their backgrounds and artistic styles. Grace also helped improve Ezekiel's website in Voice of Piece so visitors could better explore his work.

  • As they worked together, Grace learned more about the difficulties Ezekiel faced in finding buyers for his art. She had exhibited and sold her own work before, so she understood that making art was only part of the challenge. Finding people who wanted to buy it was another. Rather than treating the project as charity, she worked with Ezekiel as another artist, sharing ideas and making decisions about their work together.

  • Grace also worked with the project mentor to discuss pricing, copyright, revenue sharing, and contract terms. These discussions helped lead to Voice of Piece's first formal artist collaboration agreement. Their finished artwork was made into eco-friendly tote bags and listed for sale through Voice of Piece's online store.

  • The project gave Voice of Piece something it had not done before: a collaboration in which two artists created original work together, with a website, a formal agreement, and a product available for sale. It also gave the student team an example to follow when working with other artists in the future.

Lumiere Neura

  • Contributed to organizational planning, branding, social media, fundraising, and donation management, working with fellow co-founders to support the organization's activities and partnerships.

Arts4Hearts is a student-founded high school club dedicated to building community through art and connecting high school students with younger generations. I founded the club with the vision of using art to create meaningful connections between generations, beginning locally and eventually expanding its impact nationally. We create chalk murals inspired by childhood storybooks and designed by myself, using messages of kindness and hope that are meant to last long after the chalk fades. I chose chalk as our medium because it is something both high school and elementary students can create with, making it a universal way to connect across generations. For me, chalk holds an especially personal meaning as it was what first introduced me to art seriously when I drew Spongebob in my backyard as a child. That experience sparked my passion for art, and through Arts4Hearts, I hope to pass that same spark of creativity and inspiration on to the next generation.

EDArt x Arts4Hearts Mural

ED Art Studio / EDART X ARTS4HEARTS PHOTOS

Led a collaborative chalk mural project bringing together ED Art Studio students and Arts4Hearts members. Working alongside neurodivergent students, we created a large-scale mural inspired by Mario Kart and Minecraft, combining the ideas and creativity of students from both communities. Rather than approaching the project as simply an art activity, we focused on creating the mural together, allowing each student to contribute to the design and creative process. The project demonstrated how collaborative art can create an inclusive space where students with different experiences can connect, communicate, and express themselves through a shared creative experience.
